Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

Authors submitting manuscripts to the Pakistan Journal of Biomedical Engineering (PJOBME) must follow the journal’s formatting, ethical, and bibliographic standards to ensure consistency, clarity, and academic quality.

Manuscripts should be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere. All submissions must clearly present the research problem, methodology, results, discussion, and conclusion in a structured format. The language should be clear, concise, and free from grammatical errors.

Formatting Standards

Manuscripts should be prepared in a standard academic format using a readable font (e.g., Times New Roman, 12 pt). The paper should include a title, abstract, keywords, introduction, methodology, results, discussion, conclusion, and references. Figures and tables must be properly labeled and referenced within the text.

The abstract should provide a brief summary of the study, including objectives, methods, key findings, and conclusions. Keywords should reflect the main topics of the research.

Bibliographic Standards

All references must be properly cited and listed at the end of the manuscript. PJOBME follows a standard citation style (APA or IEEE style recommended for biomedical engineering submissions). Authors must ensure that all in-text citations match the reference list.

References should be recent, relevant, and from credible sources such as peer-reviewed journals, conferences, and books. Unverified or non-academic sources should be avoided.

Example Citation Formats

IEEE Style:
[1] A. Author, “Title of paper,” Journal Name, vol. 10, no. 2, pp. 100–110, 2024.

APA Style:
Author, A. A. (2024). Title of article. Journal Name, 10(2), 100–110.

Book Example (APA):

Submission Requirements

Authors must ensure that figures are high quality, tables are properly formatted, and all abbreviations are defined at first use. Any ethical approval for experiments involving human or animal subjects must be clearly stated.

Plagiarism in any form is strictly prohibited. Manuscripts will be checked for originality before review.

Final Note

Adherence to these guidelines is mandatory. Submissions that do not comply may be returned to authors for revision before peer review.
